While all of JYDC’s activities are directed towards the all-round development of rural community, we focus on issues related to
Women and Children
Socio-economic condition of the poorer section of Sundarban area has been appalling. We have worked towards their socio-economic upliftment through various programs appropriate for the area. We are trying to create a violence-free atmosphere for our children.
Landless laborers, marginal farmers, village artisans, micro traders and vendors
Though fisheries and agriculture mainstay of the people of Sundarban, we aim to bring diverse occupational groups in our empowerment preview. We also aim to provide alternative livelihood opportunities.
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, other backward Classes and minority communities
While Scheduled castes constitute as high as 40% of the population, other backward classes are 45% of population. Those socially and educationally backward are ones we land our service to.
Heath, sanitation (WASH) for all
Our activities focus on adequate water and sanitation and health facilities. Now our district declared “NIRMAL ZILLA” but still we are aware of using of Toilet, exposition risk of waterborne and other disease.
Alternative Livelihood
While villagers of Sundarban are in a maximum number below the poverty line without any alternative sustainable livelihood option they have not changed their economic condition. We organised skill development training with associate them to change their daily life and they became income generators.
Reduce Carbon in Sundarban Area
Through forestation, reforestation, agri-forestation, social forestry and to protect forest, world heritage sides Sundarban will be much greener and the people of Sundarban, wildlife, and bio-diversity will be protected and long life.
